Depression can have profound effects on cognitive function, with devastating effects on functional outcomes in the workplace.  These can manifest as a lack of concentration and reduced work productivity, affecting both the sufferer and their colleagues.1–3

Data from a survey of 8,000 employees across 8 countries showed that the economic effects of depression can be profound, with employees taking time off work due to their condition, or finding themselves reluctant to share their concerns with their employers.3
